As we approach the New Year, now is the perfect time to look inward and reflect on where you are in your growth as a leader. How have you grown in the past year? Where can you improve in the year ahead?

To get you started, we’ve got 6 questions for any #enlightenedleader to consider to set you and your team up for a successful year ahead.

1) Where does your inspiration as a leader come from?

Why do you do what you do? What drives you? In the midst of busy lives, economic downturns, and whatever else may be coming your way, it can be easy to forget the purpose behind what you do. Reflect and get in touch with your roots. Remember your why. And how it might have changed over the years. Start the year grounded and with a refocused sense of purpose.

2) How are you continuing to grow and develop as a leader?

As leaders, it is important that we continue to make an effort to improve ourselves so we can best serve our team and our business. And knowing where you are already strong is a fantastic place to start.  What are your Unique Abilities? How can you leverage them to better serve your team? Surrounding yourself with a community of leaders, like the ones here at CEO Think Tank® committed to providing a sounding board along with direct and honest feedback is a great way to learn and grow.

3) Based on your habits right now, what will your life or business look like one year from now?

You’ve set your goals for the year ahead. Are you taking the steps necessary to achieve those? Have you mapped out your action plan and put deadlines in place for yourself to get your actions done? An idea and plan is part of achieving your goals but you can not progress without action. Prioritize what is most important for you in life and business and consider what that realistically entails. Then schedule 90 minutes a week to get those actions done.  And consider joining our roundtable to help keep you on track and accountable.

4) What’s the best piece of leadership advice you ever received?

Oftentimes, there are many people that play a critical role in the development of your leadership. What piece of leadership advice made the most impact on you and your life journey? Why? That piece of wisdom may be the key to your success. Here’s your reminder if you’ve slipped off the guide rails to get back on track!

5) How do you motivate others as a leader?

Enlightened Leaders know that part of the role that they play is to motivate and inspire others to be their best self so that the team can achieve success. Are you providing your team what they need to be successful? Have you asked them what kind of encouragement and environment motivates them? Have you asked them what’s one thing that you do that de-motivates them? Lead by setting an example of a concerned and compassionate leader and create a culture where everyone feels inspired by each other.

6) What is the most important risk you took and why?

Part of being a leader is knowing when to take a chance. If you play it safe, you may never grow to your full potential. What risk got you to where you are today? Consider how this impacted you and your business and what lesson you’ve learned that you continue to incorporate today in your work with others.
